Bio – after many years playing acoustic slide guitar with my long term playing partner and friend Delta Doug (vox/gtr and harp) in “Slidin’ Delta” and cutting a few similar harp and slide cds in The Arhoolies I decided that I had enough blue rythm in my soul to put it into something else and hooked up on bass with Harmonica Mac and The Groovecats in September ’06 and found myself one short month later holding down the rhythm end with Scotland’s best young blues drummer Kid Davison and cutting the cd “Wake Up lil Mama “. The Groovecats bowed out after a tour in late 07 with the very talented Al Brown on guitar.

I’m still working on my on cd ” Original Snake Sin Music” – five tracks in – but so many good guitar tunes to sort out and so little time. (Check it out)

Previous Outfits – The Arhoolies, Slidin’Delta, Harmonica Mac and the Groovecats

Near misses – supporting Big Bill Morganfield, Muddy’s boy – he pulled a great gag – called me a white b for stealing black blues player’s music, told me it was a joke and asked me to play on his next cd…he is a big dude by the way so I just grinned and said nothing !

Influences Andy Fraser for his very melodic and alternatively sparse lines , Berry Oakley for his clever but suble lines behind the Allman Brothers. Kenney Gradney for the jive and great lines behind Little Feat , Vernon Alley for his great wandering jazz lines and being the first to try electric bass. But mostly my bro Athol who keeps passing me those great wee bass tips that I would take months to figure out.
Also plays with…Slidin Delta (with Delta Doug)
